Preparing to Bid

Signing up is free — just create a user name and password. Easy! Once the catalog is published you will be able to register with your payment information. Then you’re all set to bid as soon as the auction opens. You will get a chance to review and agree to the terms and conditions for bidding.

Preview the auction

See the items in person on preview days April 8th and 9th. Because the auction items are at a US Naval Base, all visitors are required to apply for a base access pass.

Please be aware that security is taken seriously at the base and there are restrictions. You will need acceptable ID and valid insurance. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE BASE WITHOUT PROPER CLEARANCE.

All our items are sold to the highest bidder for each auction. Your bid is a binding contract, and all sales are final. You own the item if you have the highest bid at the time of the bid closing. If there is a problem with the highest bidder, the next highest bidders are given an option to purchase the item.

All our auction items are sold “Where is, As is”. We do not warranty our items, nor offer a guarantee. We make tremendous effort to insure that we present our entire auction inventory with all the information we have available to help you make the most informed decision. The information we offer regarding item condition or usability is a statement of judgment and not a statement of fact. Remember: All items in this auction are from the US Antarctic Program and the items may have defects not identified in the photos.

You may want to visit the auction site to inspect any items you’d like to buy before bidding. You may also send someone to the site to conduct the inspection on your behalf. We are also available to answer questions on items via email or telephone.

Buyer’s premium and other fees

Successful bidders are required to pay a 10% premium on each lot purchased. Handling charges will be charged for special arrangements, shipping preparations and any costs associated with transportation. There may be other fees associated with PayPal use or Wire Transfers. All packaging and shipping fees are the responsibility of the Buyer.

Payment and removal

Purchases must be paid in full within two (2) business days after bidding for that lot closes. Purchased items must be removed within three (3) business days after the auction closes. Items purchased will not be released until full payment is received.

Review auction terms and conditions

We have more information available. In order to bid, you need to agree to the terms and conditions of the Antarctic Auction located HERE. Please read them carefully. You are entering into a binding contract by agreeing to the terms and placing a bid.
